Neil brings a lifelong dedication to working for justice and substantial experience and knowledge in working with the police to make communities safer. He has helped victims of crime have a voice in Court. He knows what works well in the police force and what can be improved upon.
Neil has lived in Leicestershire for almost 24 years and has worked in the Crown Prosecution Service for 23 years latterly in Leicester when he joined the the CPS East Midlands area in February 2013 . He became a regular Advocate at the Crown Court in Leicester and also appeared for the prosecution in the Crown Court at Northampton, Derby and Nottingham.
In 2001 when he was District Crown Prosecutor for CPS Warwickshire as a member of the Senior Management Team he was responsible for the Crown Court Team and their conduct of the serious casework in Warwickshire. He became the focal point for advising the police in a number of major investigations including murder cases. During this period he also presented cases and conducted trials across the West Midlands. He also had responsibility for a significant public service budget.
He has represented the Dunton Ward of Harborough District Council since May 2011 and subsequently was appointed to the Council’s Executive Committee where he has responsibility for Environmental and Regulatory matters.
Aged 57 he is married to Kathryn who is employed as a senior radiographer at Leicester Royal Infirmary. His two daughters, Jessica, is a student at DeMontfort University and Laurel who works at the George office at Magna Park, near Lutterworth.
Given his dedication to the task ahead he has resigned from the CPS in order to devote his energies full time to the campaign and to serve the residents of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
Neil says, ‘I am determined to ensure the best value for money in our Police Force, work in partnerships with other agencies to prevent crime and to give victims of crime a greater say. Crime in the countryside is as important as crime in the urban areas and the police should respond accordingly.’
